Susan Hecht

Although Susan started her career in advertising and graphic design, she eventually found her way into the fine art world.   Susan works in a variety of media, but mostly concentrates on Oils.  Her great love of color is reflected in her paintings. She has a bright and cheerful palette and is constantly thinking about the balance of light and dark, color, edges and temperature. She challenges herself to capture her subject in a way that expresses the energy and emotion of that moment.  Susan approaches painting, much as she does life, with a sense of playfulness.  

“For me, art brings to life the beauty in the everyday - the commonalities we relate to, those that may touch us and those that may go unnoticed.  Creating a visual experience of this is my inspiration.  As much as the subject itself,  I’m intrigued by the relationships; between light and shadow, object and edge, movement and stillness and between the subject and the whole.  Through my work, I want to resonate feelings of nostalgia, familiarity, and warmth.  I hope to evoke that sense of comfort and connection, and create something beautiful for others to enjoy.”
