Kelly Rightsell

I was born in the South and have lived here all of my life. The beautiful landscapes of the mountains and colorful sunsets along the coast have always been favorite subjects for my work. Art has been a part of my life as long as I can remember - from shaping sculpture out of creek clay and art lessons as a child, to studying at London's Blackheath School of Art and earning a BFA from East Carolina University.

Early on, I taught elementary art in North Carolina and Virginia until the first of my three wonderful children was born. After taking some time off, I started a children's art & design business with my husband that blossomed beyond our wildest dreams during the years of raising young children. Now I split my time between teaching and painting what I love - kids and dogs on the beach, colorful interiors, special moments in people's lives. My hope in all of my art now is simply that it brings joy and smiles to those who see it.
